Why It is Happier to Have a Smaller Home

Many people think that owning a big house is what will make them extremely happy. But when reality sets in, they will find out that it is much happier to live in a mall house. Below are the top reasons that explain why it is so.

A smaller house is less expensive – It is not only the total cost that makes a big house expensive.  Things like electricity, insurance, taxes and other utility bills make it expensive. A small house will definitely cheaper in terms of all these factors.

A smaller house is easier to clean and maintain – If you have a small space to clean, you will have more time to spend doing other worthwhile tasks. Moreover, you will not spend a lot on maintenance. In fact, you might be able to all the maintenance work on your own.

A smaller house promotes a healthier environment – A small house requires a small piece of land and fewer natural resources to build. Thus, a big part of the surroundings can be spared from destruction.  Unlike big houses or mansions, they don’t require a lot of trees to be taken down for the laying of their foundations.

A small house builds stronger family relations – if there’s only one TV room, family members would be forced to gather together just to watch TV. While watching TV, they can share their thoughts or laugh out loud with each other.

A small house shews away burglars – Thieves would think that a small house would probably have less or nothing valuable in it as compared to a big house. So, you wouldn’t have to worry much about theft.

“The point of simple living, for me has got to be: A soft place to land, a wide margin of error, room to breathe, lots of places to find baseline happiness in each and every day” ― Leo Babauta
